Cut from the Sermon, 4/12/26
Pastor's Cuts: 1st Peter 1
There is an excellent book that are a collection of early Christian prayers called, "Early Christian Prayers" What did they think about? What did they think they needed? We have examples of these prayers and they have a Sermon on the Mount vibe. Irenaeus, whose mentor knew the Apostle John, prayed about loving those who persecute them: "I pray that they may not remain in the pit that they themselves have dug, may Christ take shape in them, I am loving them to some purpose, my love is more to the point, than the love they imagine they have for themselves, and since it is real, it will do them good, if they accept it." The prayers are for help and instruction about how to be a more effective witness.
