Mark’s gospel is the shortest gospel because Mark cuts straight to the action. Mark’s gospel is all about how Jesus proved His authority. Today is the Baptism of Our Lord, where Jesus changes the meaning of baptism. John baptized for the forgiveness of sin; Jesus gives us a new life through the Holy Spirit in His baptism. Through His baptism, Jesus is choosing to identify with us. In our baptism, we are given the identity of a chosen child of God.
