Chapter 16 is the theological heart of the book of Leviticus. Some say it’s the heart of the entire Bible. God gave the Day of Atonement as a second chance because He wants us to be His Holy People. Notice the order of the reading from Chapter 16: forgiveness, salvation, and change. God has not changed this order – it is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
